    Text Ann LaVerne Evans Commer, 87, of Pine Bluff, passed away Monday, January 25, 2016, at Davis Life Care.
    Mrs. Commer was born February 26, 1928, in Dexter, Arkansas, to the late Walter Raleigh and Mattie Tom Ferguson Evans. She was reared and received her education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School in 1945.
    She married Jake Baggarly Commer, Sr. on June 19, 1948, at Hawley Memorial United Methodist Church in Pine Bluff.
    Mrs. Commer worked as a secretary for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and Coleman, Gant, Ramsey and Cox Law Firm.
    She was a member of Hawley Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher and served on various committees and held various offices. She was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Women. She volunteered at the Jefferson County Literacy Council, Neighbor to Neighbor, and taught Sunday school at Trinity Village Living Facility.
    She is survived by her husband, Jake Baggarly Commer, Sr.; children, Jake B. (Rachel) Commer, Jr. of Gulf Breeze, Florida, Melissa (Dr. David) Bell of Tupelo, Mississippi, Laurie (Dr. Mark) Davenport of Ft. Smith, Arkansas and John \" Andy\" (Amy) Commer of Mooresville, North Carolina; grandchildren, Dr. Kristin (Joe) Simunac, Matthew Bell, Catherine Bell, Jacob Commer, Will Commer, Ryan Davenport, and Tori Davenport; a great-grandchild, Clara Elizabeth Simunac; brother-in-law, Pete Commer; sister-in-law, June Commer and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
    Mrs. Commer was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Pete Evans and a sister, Patsy Evans Thurman.
    The family will receive friends Friday, January 29, 2016, 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, at Robinson\rquote s.
    Funeral services will be Friday, January 29, 2016, 1:00 PM, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son. Burial will be private.
    In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be sent to Hawley Memorial United Methodist Church, Arkansas Hospice, and Neighbor to Neighbor.
    The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Davis Life Care for the loving care that was given to their mother.
