Harvey Grant Witten was born December 8, 1869, in Wilson County, Kansas, the son of William anhd Mary E. Witten. He was one of eight children who have all pseed on except T. P. Witten and Mrs. Luella Renton. He died at his home if Afton, Okla., October 11, 1948.
He was married to Sarah Wilder at Pawnee Nov. 16, 1896, by Rev. B. P. Gould. To this union eight children were born. Two died in childhood; those surviving are Mrs. Bertha Sitton and Mrs. Rosetta Gripe, Afton, Okla., Ralph Witten, Oklahoma City; Mrs. Lela Shannon, Mrs. Eunice Weldon and Wayland Witten, all of California. Nineteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive. Three grandsons preceded him in death while in Service.
Funderal service were held at the Baptist chruch in Afton with Rev. Max Pendly officiating. Burial was in the Mount Hope cemetery near Afton under the direction of the Goodson-Durnil Funeral Home. |
